Most new installs we do are built around UniFi Access. It’s the platform that’s genuinely caught up with what modern buildings need — mobile credentials, NFC, video at the door, proper audit logs, and a management interface that anyone can be trained on in half an hour. It runs on a UniFi gateway you already need on most sites, so there’s no extra server lurking in a cupboard waiting to be forgotten about.
Where the existing system is Paxton Net2, Paxton10, or Salto, we’ll happily keep it running — or take over the support contract if your last installer’s become hard to reach. Twenty years of Paxton work means we know where the bodies are buried. Replacing a working system for the sake of replacing it isn’t a service, it’s a sales tactic.
For more specialised needs — tap-and-go on Apple Wallet, Salto’s battery-powered locks for awkward doors, Kisi for cloud-only deployments — we specify those too. The principle is the same on every job: the building decides the system, not the other way round.
We walk the building, map the door types, check the cable routes, look at the fire strategy, and ask who actually opens and closes the place. Quotes built from a photo of the front door are how systems end up half-finished or non-compliant.
Every controlled door needs a way out without a credential — break-glass, request-to-exit, or interlock with the fire system. We design this in, document it, and test it on commissioning. It’s not optional and it’s not the customer’s job to remember.

Honest answer: it depends on how many doors, what hardware’s already there, and whether the cabling exists. A two-door upgrade on an existing system can be a few hundred pounds. A new ten-door install with mobile credentials, ANPR at the gate and proper handover documentation is a different number entirely. We don’t publish rate cards because every building’s different — we survey first, then quote against what the building actually needs.
Almost always, yes. Net2 and Paxton10 are solid platforms and we still install them where they fit. If your current installer’s gone quiet, we can take the system over, audit it, fix what’s broken, and support it from there. We’ll only recommend replacement if there’s a real reason — end-of-life hardware, fundamental mismatch with how the site now operates, or compliance gaps that can’t be patched.
Yes. Every system we install has local controllers that hold the credential database and make access decisions on the door itself. The cloud is for management, reporting and remote unlock — not the critical path. If your ISP drops out at three on a Friday, your doors still open for the people who should be there.
On modern systems, yes — Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or a dedicated app, depending on the platform. Mobile credentials are faster to issue, faster to revoke, and harder to lose than a fob. We usually run a mix — phones for office staff, fobs for cleaners and contractors who’d rather not install an app.
A two- or three-door install on an existing cable network is typically a single day. A larger site — ten or more doors, new containment, integration with intruder or fire — runs from three days to two weeks depending on the building. We’ll give you a realistic timeline after the survey, not a hopeful one.
